Dr. Michael E. Rutledge, D.M., founded Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church in Steubenville, Ohio.  He served as the Dean of the Congress of Christian Education of the Ohio Baptist State Convention, Inc.; President of the Congress of Christian Education of the Eastern Ohio Baptist District Association; Professor at New Vision University in Lincolnton, North Carolina; and Professor at American Baptist College at the Youngstown Extension in Youngstown, Ohio.  He has served as Third Vice President of the Ohio Baptist State Convention and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.


Dr. Rutledge received the Doctor of Ministry Degree from North Carolina College of Theology, Raleigh, North Carolina in May 2003.  He received his Master of Arts Degree in Theology and Ethics from Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, Ohio in May 1993 and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science with a minor in Mathematics and Chemistry from Tougaloo College, Jackson, Mississippi in May 1979.  He has done additional postgraduate studies at Houston Graduate School of Theology, Houston, Texas and at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas.


On March 26, 2006, Dr. Michael E. Rutledge was installed as Mt. Ararat Baptist Church's their third pastor.  Dr. Rutledge's vision is for an aggressive expansion of both campus and ministries to meet the needs of the surrounding community as well as the Greater Houston area.


Dr. Rutledge is married to Alicia Rutledge and has nine year old twin daughters, Michaela and Ayanna and son, Michael Rutledge, II.
